Where am I now?

Where am I now?

A Poem by Mr. Malarkey
"

Reflection time

"
The inside

Warm, embracing, familiarity
I am home
A place of fond memories
Security and shelter from the world

The outside

Scary, dark, hostility
The world I came to know
Fight to live
Survival of the strongest

Evolution

An enigma, unknown and risky
The result of all that changes
From darkness to light
The sun climbs into the heavens

The future

Fluid, morphing, ever approaching
The world that will become
A different time from now
A familiar and unfamiliar world

Death

The absolute conclusion to all life
Nobody can escape their fate
Not something to be feared
Merely a part of the natural order

"Where am I now?"

The question I ask myself every day
While adrift in the sea of memories
Time is flowing on
I am still home
But life has evolved
The outside world has changed
Still ruthless
Still draconian
But now a place I am eager to go
Because the world inside is stagnating
And the time has come for me to evolve
Making amends with who I am
Taking charge of the life I was given
Because the future is unwritten
Always coming, stopping for no one
I eagerly prepare myself
So that I may die without regrets
No longer will I mourn the missed opportunities
It is time to awaken
And live in the life that I desire

So, where am I now?
I am here, and I am ready for what follows

And that is just you! Now multiply by 7 billion and it's no wonder we're all in such a mess.
One person has so many facets to them that it's a miracle we can function at all with the constant background noise of thoughts constantly screaming "Does not compute" at every turn we try to make.
We arehere, wherewe always end up, but with a newperspective, it can finally feel like a familiar path, or at least the hope it isnt as wrong as the rest.
