Shine

Shine

A Poem by Tyler Hein

I was told to stop after further inspection

Told to stop, turn, and go in the other direction

Couldn't step forward or I'd break on thru

So I took a step back to start life anew

It's been a while since I broke the night

From heading nowhere at the speed of light

To find the smoke of your last cigarette

Went all this way just for your silhouette

To watch it all slip through my fingers

The smoke may made but the image lingers

To hate the sin and not the sinner

I should let it go and not be bitter

It's been a while since I tried to shine...
