In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory

A Poem by Andrew M Parker

“Hello, hello!”

I dare say, as people walk by.

They do not stop to say hi;

They never do,

And I don’t know why.

I wave to these people

When the winds are high

But do they stop?

No! They say,

“Hurry hurry, get inside!”

So here I sit

On my post

Above the ground

Astounded at the lack of smiles around;

Now I droop my head and glare a frown

At all the people who come and go

And never stop to say hello.
