All Out of Wine (originally titled Champagne)

All Out of Wine (originally titled Champagne)

A Poem by Andrew M Parker

Dark scars. Cold breath. It’s lonely inside my head.

Quiet house. Pale skin. Time to open the Box again.

Clammy hands. Freckled nose. Here’s to standing on my tippy-toes.

The use of punctuation gives the feel of staccato, scattered thoughts. Yet a slightly humorous ending; which changes the melancholic tone from the earlier lines.
