I'm not Blind

I'm not Blind

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

I woke up this morning
And i was feeling kind of old
Thinking about the dreams i had lost
And some that i had sold
Can't help but wonder if this was
Part of some grand design
I might be a fool for love
But I'm not blind

Oh its just getting colder in this house
And the road's been much too long
I see her face in every crowd
I hear her name in every song
I'm starting to feel
Just a little left behind
I might be a fool for love
But I'm not blind

She ain't got room in her life
for the likes of me
I know that nothing in life
Is given away for free
I can always tell when shes got
Someone else on her mind
I might be a fool for love
But I'm not blind

Each day it's getting harder for me
To open up my eyes
I just keep getting the same results
After so many ties
Maybe I'm just afraid
Of what i might find
I might be a fool for love
But I'm not blind

Oh how the days a getting shorter
And its getting hard for me to breathe
I just hope that my prayers are heard
before its time for me to leave
I'm sinking faster now
And I'm getting closer to the line
I pray to the Lord I'll find love
Just one more time

Once being in love before I hope you do find it one more time. What an amazing feeling and emotion love is and everyone should be in it. The world would be a better place and maybe everyone would write poetry. Another fine write from you. Thanks for the read request. Sorry for the time it took but life just grab a hold of me and I had to do a few other things.

Ah .... dear M.L. ... there is such a sense of sadness in this piece. Very lonely and emotional. I think once we let go of the "looking" for love, we stumble over it. If one has faith, it will present itself.

You continue to grow as a writer. Very well written piece... both in content and form. I think it would make a great song! Do you know anyone who writes music? Or do you? You should consider taking it a step further and making it into music. Seriously.

I see I have a lot of reading to catch up on...lol. I've been MIA for a bit, but will get to them all soon, for I do enjoy reading your work :)

Great piece!

thank you for bob dylan's inspiration. this was very good!! flowed like a song, and i enjoyed every line. a song about loving someone, knowing their love is not reciprocal. oh how it hurt. i know, i've been there.

you're never too old for love. I had a couple at my work who just recently got married and they are in their 60's.

a piece a lot can relate too. Love is a lot of work and sometimes can leave someone feeling defeated but the reward of that 'real thing' keeps us hoping. Emotional piece written from the heart my friend. Bob Dylan is a true inspiration.

I likd the structure in this one a lot. Especifically the fact that each stanza ended in 'but I'm not blind'. I really anjoyed this!

First of all, I think the rhythm and the pace match the tone in this poetic tune.

You have a way with the perfect closure in many of your poems. What can seem impossible, can be turned around, You always seem to have an undertone of hope.

If you truly want to make this into a song, you should expand it. You have the true makings of a song here.
