In My Pond

In My Pond

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Swim into my depths
And that is where you'll find me
Deep in thought and all alone
See how clear the waters of my mind are
Time has cleansed me of pollution
Now you can drink of my soul
Look how still the waters of my mind are
Now that the ripples of your stone
Have found the shore
Feel how warm the waters of my mind are
Wakes are sure to stir in days to come
But in my pond your stones
Will fall no more

I enjoyed your poem, to which I responded in a very personal way as I love swimming and often think of the mind as liquid. I like lines three and four as that is how I wld wish to be. But, I stresss my response is personal, I wld not want anyone swimming in such waters and wld definitely not want anyone drinking from the same. For me deep in thought and all alone...and still wld be an ideal state with no other human around to disturb me in any way.

"Stones" keep coming up in your poem. It is known that in a river, that stones cleanse the water. Ripples... they are what was, and caused something to occur. I loved the way you put this poem into a natures point of view. Your mind at ease, yet the water will ripple as a new thought emerges. Profound! Excellent! Thank you for sending me this to read. ks

Beautiful and depressing till the last word. While I would consider revising thoroughly what could be an even better poem, it is nice nonetheless. For someone with imagination, you can almost hear the ripples in the water. I like how you imbued the real interpretation behind this poem. Good job!

What a beautiful poem! Peace, serenity and self-acceptance. How wonderful life is when you can get to this place in life. Don't allow other to ripple your waters...It does wonders for my heart to know you are in this place, yu have come so far and through so much! I am so very proud of you! Great write!

AMAZING POEM. i really liked this. kind of like a lauryn hill, "water" song she did live for her album. but also a mix of my "citadel" poem, about having this sturdy foundation, and not letting others break that. your mind is calm and clear, and what should it matter if another throws pebbles in it to muddle my mind??

EXCELELNT. going in my favorites.

I am speechless. This was simply amazing. Sorry I just couldn't write a bunch or romantic words. This was simply amazing. Standing "O".

Another person who is at such peace with self will swim to your depths.

The words on this page exude serenity which some will never know. Your words speak that you will protect another, not just physically or mentally, but through example of your life. Serenity is not out of reach.

Another well written poem.

Very brillant and beautiful. Your writing seems to show a personal progression of growth, and insight. Your writings sound much more hopeful, and like you've moved to a better place. Again, thanks for sharing.
