In Time

In Time

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Listen closely to the silence
With mind wide open look deep
Until you can almost
Reach out and touch the sleep
There in cold still pools
Of the past
Were curses are broken
By prayers cast
Contemplating eyes stare back at me
From the reflections
And a flash of light
Brings to dead eyes sight
Together Traveling souls come
From all directions
For just a brief moment
I know joy
Like the kind that came
From behind the eyes
Of a boy
Now a man i am
Lost in the Gaze
Of my own eyes
In exchange for my youth
My heart was granted
Only truth
As i grow to be old
Complete
And wise

Complicated thought, going from child to man. Only the eyes of the beholder can see what is behind the eyes, see through the experiences, rush through time with them. Easy to relate to your poem. I like how you wrote in exact words," Of a boy
Now a man i am "

The fact that you did not write,"Now a man I am" makes the writing more clear that man and boy are the same as one.

very nice and I enjoyed your writing. I look forward to reading more. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. KS

In exchange for my youth
My heart was granted
Only truth

I like that. a great perspective on reaching adulthood and what it means. We see things as they are, more aware to our surroundings and the way of things... bringing truth to everything.

I like the descriptions of your reflection in water starring back at you. Nicely done!

This seems a bit different for you ML.. I can't put my finger on it.

Self reflection. Moving through life, messages and life gifts sent through others to lighten the darkened paths stumbled onto along the way. I like the clarity that is found here.

A pleasure to read my friend. :)

Beautiful and well written piece. I enjoyed reading this very much. I loved the ..."in exchange for my youth
My heart was granted only truth as I grow to be old complete and wise"..........WoW, I can relate to that. Awesome write, and I'd like to read more of your writing.
