These Strands

These Strands

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Who's to say that in a dream

You can't reclaim a piece or two
Of who you used to be
Of who they once knew
Just not quite the same
What have they done to you
This child of love
Now cleaved in two
There will come a day when
Uninvited and maybe even deserving
Hell comes in from the cold
To burn what you've been preserving
When even the tallest of towers
Will find their way to the ground
And the smallest of voices
Makes the loudest sound
When your own shadow takes on
A hideous form
And you hide behind the mask
That so many have worn
You find yourself ripped apart at the seems
Barely held together by faith
That once put together those very dreams
Know that you are not alone in your pain
For the strands of hope that hold together
This heart of yours are in me
The very same

This is magnificent ML... truly. First of all, your flow is great.. very catchy. Reads well outloud. The content is hope, and hope is my favorite word. Well, that and all those other mushy positives like love and faith. They are what make life grand. Keep hanging on to those strands... truly believe and your heart will achieve whatever it is that it seeks.

Loved this!

I am glad I cam across you. You have a way of expressing love, doubt and the answers all in one poem. Most writers tackle one or two idea and you can do all 3 repeatly, poem after poem after poem. That is a great gift that you have keep sharing it with us.

NIce job. I particularly like this line: Ripped apart at the seams (because i use this in my poems a couple of times or so)

very deep, that's the thing that struck out at me the most. a different feel than your other poems, but def one with a good meaning and message.
