Humble Pie

Humble Pie

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

I sold my pride in a yard sale for fifty cents

Along with some other old stuff

There once was a time when I used it a lot

But I guess that I just had enough

So I took what I earned and I went to the store

To buy ingredience to make humble pie

I was relieved because after I’d eaten it all

I could finally look myself in the eye

I know this won’t right all the wrongs in the world

But it does help me get through the day

After all…when everything is said and done

“I’m sorry” is all I can say

Hun the undertones in this and the overall message is very powerful and beautiful, not to mention very thought provoking and powerful! You have an amazing ability to insert so much power into your poems. I can relate and I think everyone should try some humble pie more often. Thanks for the read request!

Good exchange of dialog on the pride to pie. I can not tell a lie, I myelf often need to eat humble pie. Good and clever right/write.

Not my favorite of yours, but def a short and clever idea. "pie" made me litle hungry. ha ha.
also, a tiny misspelling: ingredience(ingredients)

Wow. The rhyming and overall rhythm in this poem is perfect, the whole thing reads well.

A powerful poem that has a distinguished climax and soft ending.

Much respect...True strength comes not from might or force...but in admiting you made a mistake and looking at your own chellenges to make a covenant with yourself to work on them...We all make em but not many can eat the humble pie enough to be able to grow from them! excellent work !

Nice work ML. We all have pride issues and need to humble ourselves now and again. And yes, you can't change what is behind, only what is in front. Great job as always my friend!
