Pirates Treasure

Pirates Treasure

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

It seemed like id walked a mile when I reached

The end of the plank

I was bound to a stone that I held in my arms

 To ensure that I sank

Sharks came about ‘cause they thought that I’d be

 An easy meal

The gold in my pocket was not all the pirates

 Intended to steal

With blade to my back my next step was met

By nothing but air

I fell from the plank with tears in my eyes

And wind in my hair

The sharks would be thwarted by something unseen

That was protecting me

As further I sank toward a light that was coming

From under the sea

A voice then spoke out as I drifted into

A dream like state

It said “son this is not my plan for you. No,

This isn’t your fate.”

I woke to the sound of birds in the sky

On a sandy shore

On a paradise island that’s not on a map that

I’ve not seen before

I saw blessings from God as fruit from the land and

I hadn’t a care

I even found a companion with so many gifts that

I had some to spare

I see now that I need faith in my life , besides…..

Prayer is free

My life is now richer then ever a

Pirates treasure could be

Oh Wow! My dear freind this is so beautiful! It's great to see that with all that's going on that you ended it so well. The references to the sharks, the gold...Then you end it with faith. Wow hun this made my day!

Well done. There are so many angles to look at this poem. First of all, shows that even when we think that tresures of the world (money, women, men, material etc) will make us happy, in the end, we can get so deep in our greed and lust that we are on the end of a plank, ready to jump into a swarming sea of sharks, to be devoured. in a way, that's how life can be. it will eat you up, swallow you whole, if you are not careful. i'm sure you and i both have been through that predicamet.

Second of all, to me, I also see the angle towards prayer, and how it can help us in our lives. think of this were someone on the plank WITHOUT faith, who just relyed on himself or strength, and not the higher power, well, he may be eaten by the sharks already. ha ha. no, that's mean, but he did have faith, and he knew that prayer would help him from the precarious situation.

excellent poem, although simple, at first, grew into something so rich with meaning and thought. i'm glad i got to read this.

Indeed Love is the greatest treasure...sad that most people cannot see that or even fearful of it...the rest is all just fleeting trappings that people lose themselves over in greed. Faith is what will bring people to the realization of what True Love is and what it has to offer.
