Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Please No CSS

I rode my bike to

The store at full throttle

In my bag was my payload

Of 10 cents for a bottle

I'd been saving and collecting

And doing this for weeks

Yes I was one of those

Comic book freaks

In the back of my favorite

 Colorful comic book

Was a lure for sea monkeys

 And one that I took

I sent my three fifty

In an envelope by mail

Through sleet and through snow

The postman won’t fail

I waited and waited

Four weeks, five weeks, six

I just had to get

My sea monkey fix

I built them a city

Underwater not to skimp

When in the mail what I got

Was a packet of dried shrimp

lol, cute. I used to read my share of comic books back in the day. Lived in a small town with a comic book store. built up a pretty good collection. This kind of reminds me of a christmas story when he sent in for that decoder ring and after he decoded the message he was disappointed in what it said.. this was a fun read i enjoyed it!

Whimsical lol. That youthful longing for something, you captured that very well. The ending was very cute (I hate to use that word but thats what it is!) We all have a memory of this kind. Being young, wanting somehing so bad, earning our money. Then the waiting and waiting, and finally the disappointment. You captured the memory perfectly! I really like this side of you, it's playful and funny. I am always thrilled when you post something new!

Talk about let downs to a kid!!! This is cute. Such expectation for what you thought would be cute pets! I really like it. I had seen those ads myself and often wondered about the validity of the picture they drew for it to attract the unsuspecting in. Now I know!! I love that you wrote about it. Never saw anyone do that before. Aww! Dried shrimp! Live and learn. Take care.
