House of Thoughts

House of Thoughts

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

The materials that evil uses to build his home

Can be found plentiful inside the minds of men

Before it pours it’s foundation of discontent

Its mortars are mixed with fear and sand

He will make sure that the timbers of hate and lust

Hold fast for the shingles of shame

And the vain will rejoice in their mirrors of greed

Where from unsanctified walls they will hang

With opened wide doors of destruction and pain

Evil boast’s and invites dark spirits in

Not to be alone for company he seeks

And in gardens where evil plants sin

"Look at me now in my house of thoughts"

"Evil and as happy as can be!"

Heed not the warnings to protect your thoughts

And darkness is all you will see

I am reading a book called "Battlefield of the mind" and the books synopsis is that the only way the devil can get to you is through your mind, he will plant thoughts and ideas, and we basically take it upon ourselves and end up believing those lies.. Im not smart enough, I am not pretty enough, I cant make it, I cant pay my bills, I cant write.. etc. Its almost as if its the enemy just plotting the way he is going to destroy humanity..
in the "house of thoughts"

Well done.

Write on,
Melba

Well done! Yes, we must protect our thoughts --
and our hearts. Not an easy task, but a necessary
one, or we may fall. And then it's back to the 'pick
thyself up back up' stage -- and who wants to keep
repeating that?! Sigh. I think I've mastered it by now.. lol

Great work ML! You're on a roll my friend.... ! :-D

You have an elegance in your use of words, very fluid and your words are never empty.

Speaking of evil, how the threshold of evil loves to grab and hang at our feet as a clinging vine. How you are able to recognize when evil steps in, to know when to turn the cheek, shows strength. Funny how evil grabs us when we are weak and not able to fight as we would be able to at our strong times.

This poem has such depth to it, I could read this many more times and pull something different out each time I read it. Way to go, you amaze me!

This is a good telling of how a house of evil and all things sinful is built. And yes, it does begin within the minds of men with trickery, fear, deceit...anything to start a foundation and build on. Obviously, any who fit the mold of any possible sin will have a place there...and find others of like mind or of weak mind to bring into that house of destruction, those dark co-horts work together to ensure it. People need to see what they are truly getting into when they step too close to that place where darkness lives. Heeding the warnings are more soul-saving than living in shame for having fallen to it. An imaginative write from you..very good! Blessings!
