Reflections

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

We drank to dream still greater dreams

We smoked to think we thought it right

We fell to feel that we were alive

We traveled far to feed our souls

We reached to see what was on the other side

We danced with the devil not knowing the price

We threw away a gift that rarely comes around

This poem made me feel as though I was struggling with horrible things that I do because nothing else satisfy me. I had a really witty saying....but then I paid less attention to what I was doing and lost it... It was really good too. That's annoying. I really liked how personal this poem is...in the since that I feel as if it was me talking.. not just reading something from someone else. It's brilliant how you can wrap words that way.
A lovely write to be sure.

Not bad at all. I like the beginning of each line, how you speak of what happened and how each line ends in result. Very thought provoking. It's funny how there are times in our lives that we may feel we are doing the right thing, when in actuality, we are hurting ourselves and destroying something so precious. Lost time is hard to get back, if not impossible. I enjoyed this one!

Doesn't seem like you have writer's block at all! This is a really nice piece. Simple but full of meaning...great!

This poem actually has everything in it. We do and we do, we run and we run, then there's this thing called affection and love, that carries us to far, to damn far away. It almost seems that life wants us to take and to everything according to our heart's and soul's desires, but then subtracts all the benefits anyway. I could talk about the poetic values and other crap connected to that, but it's unnecessary. (maybe you must accept the idea that this "block" is a gift you shouldn't throw away ;)

Writer's block happens--I've had it for days now! Ha ha! ---So, what is on the other side and what dance does the devil do that stops you getting there? maybe describe that other world you try to get to. What was that gift like? Be well!

AHHH, I'll drink to that. Reads like a toast to what might have been. Seems as though you pay homage to the reckless behavior that got you to the inevitable ending of this toast. I agree. You only live once. So why not live with no regrets!!
Reflections?? hehe, hindsight is always 20/20.
