Garth

Garth

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

In the image was a silhouette of a tree and me

In those mountains was a friend let down by society

I introduced him to the wind and of friends

He was one of the best

I wonder if he knew that these mountains

Would be where he would rest

I see him in every flower, every mountain

 And every stone

I come here to remind myself, although he’s gone

I am not alone

I’m not angry at him because he left, I just wish

We had more time

Just one more overnighter, one last campfire

One more day to climb

So I come here to these mountains to see my friend

Until in Gods kingdom

………. we will meet again

A tragic loss of a good friend, forever remembered in the beauty of this poem. Your use of imagery in this made the feeling of the mountains stand out and bring us all a little closer to your memory and the feelings that you felt.

The last three lines really spoke a universal truth. We shall all be rejoined in the end.

Wonderful poem!

Tributes always touch my heart so deep and cause me to wonder how the person being remembered felt at the moment of passing.

Through your words in this piece, I am able to envision Garth in a place where he was so content. You were able to spend time with him - probably the most beautiful and memorable times he spent during his lifespan. He was lucky to have a friend like you. I know that you will always carry his memory and his memory shines on this page as the brightest star in the sky. I know he will smile when he sees you in Heaven.

This is heartbreaking ML...
And then in another sense it is beautiful..
the love you project ....

"I see him in every flower, every mountain
And every stone
I come here to remind myself, although he's gone
I am not alone..'

So many suffer from mental illness...
I think we all do to a certain degree...
but some much more than others.
I have experienced suicide within my
own family, and it's a horrible pain to endure..
this life is so beautiful, but so many can't see
or experience that beauty because their grief
and suffering is so all consuming. That's why
we all need eachother.... need love.

Beautifully written ML.
You've taken my emotions on yet another ride
my friend...

I"m so truly sorry for your loss.
