Stone My Heart

Stone My Heart

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Just how much heavier

Can one heart get?

When that heart lives in the shadow

Of a mountain of regret

I don’t regret giving love

But in thinking it true

I don’t regret ever saying

"I love you"

So many times I reached out

And in truth I did seek

So many times lied to

By a heart that was weak

Stripped of my dignity

By my so called friend

Going through the motions

Playing house she pretends

What of my love

And my smile of joy?

What of my dreams

That she helps to destroy?

Not just the love for a woman

But the love to be free

I miss being happy

I miss being me

ML... stop putting your poetry down!
This is hardly a mess... !!

Again, your rhyme and flow
are a hit!

And these lines in particular
are so well understood and
you've expressed them perfectly..

Yet another great write!
I'm running out of clever adjectives for you my friend...
You've taken them all!!! :)

I don't think it's a mess at all! I think it tells of something in humanity that people often overlook.
We can't live life always being what others want us to be. There is a point were we have to be ourselves and hold true to that.
Love is always complicated, and it always in a mix of comprimises and give and takes. But if the other truly loved you, then they would acknowledge and accept the person you are.

Wonderful piece!

Heart-wrenching. I don't think it's a mess, quite the opposite!

It's a yearning and longing and lovely ode to a broken heart, and I felt every stanza.

I agree with the other 2 reviewers: your poem is great. And it is dead-on with things I'm feeling and dealing with, so I really connected to it. You are so great with expression, and I like that you don't need fancy words to make a strong impact. It was simple, to the point, but very beautiful. I loved it! :)

No no your poem is not a mess,
But remember that you should
never regret an experience just learn
from them dont dwell on it.
There is always a tomorrow just
turn the page n start clean.

Thanks for sharing i really enjoyed it

Best wishes
