They're Just Words

They're Just Words

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

From our minds and our hearts

They reveal the person inside

That can build or destroy

from ourselves we can’t hide

Into ears then the brain

Where reactions we choose

Take care and be responsible

Of the words that you use

To the tops of many a mountain

They have gotten me before

Into the darkest of valleys

Where of their pain I endure

Choose words that bring life

Not to destroy hearts of men

From our mouths come the power

To lift family, man or friend

I agree in the fullest. You have captured the truth of the power of words clearly and with precision.

People should be more responsible in what they speak or write. Yet, at the same time i feel words ment to be soft and non-offensive, can be blown way out of purportion by the reader as well. It's a two way street it my opinion.

Well writen, and makes us think. Thanks for sharing.

spoken or written words carry such a powerful impact to the reader or recipient that they are delivered to. You can break a heart or lift someone out of a pit of dispair and give hope. Which is it we choose for them? This we have to live with.

I love this. Death and Life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Each of us have been used to do both...Create death or create life. Creating life sure leaves us feeling better about who we are. I wrote a piece called, "Words: A Choice We Make" that is similar to this.

Well done, friend.

Definitely, the spoken word is a powerful thing, but you also seem to make the written word almost as powerful.
