The FencesA Poem by Mozart's LullabyMy first entry. A poem about World War II. I wrote it after I read, "The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas".
The Fences
They didn't understand it. Forced to be in small rooms. In trains filled with thousands. The children wided eyed in fear. The families torn by fences. The long, gray fences. They knew what was happening, yet they still did it. They raised their hands to salute a murderer. The soldiers torn by the fences. The high, bleak fences. They fought against it. They stormed the beaches, hundreds dead at the shores. They wanted to save them. Fighting to take down the fences. The barbed wire fences. We watched the papers. Waited for news on our men, On our country, on the camps. We cried when some never came home. Trying to climb the fences. The never forgotten fences.
