SO THIS IS LONELINESS

SO THIS IS LONELINESS

A Poem by Matt Thompson

Overwhelmed in disgrace,
Got to get out of this place.
Disappear in the night, leave no trace.
Time and pain, weathered to my face.
I forgot the meaning of grace.

Everything I have known,
Turn to lies, leaving me alone.
Suffocate a life that has grown,
Pain manifests in a moan,
Leaving me to die alone.

Silence welcomes me.
Screams speak things that shouldn't be,
Inviting me to sleep with misery.
Memories that haunt, dressed in a reverie.
Pain suffocates, leaves me to embrace agony.

So this is what it is to feel helpless,
So this is loneliness.
