SLAIN VIRGINA Poem by Matt Thompson
"SLAIN VIRGIN"
Invite me to your pain, my soul lusts for its rain. Even when you speak in tongues, you lie. Even when you breathe you die. I still want you for reasons I don’t know why. I try to run from what is true. But I keep running straight to you. Touch me again with your agony. I hate you, but to be without you is misery. Caress me with your scorn, Place upon my head, your crown of thorns. Your goodbyes flows through me like venom, leaving me cold and numb. I want to leave far from here, but you whisper self doubt into my ear. I try and hide from the shame, but you leave my will slain. One last time, you say goodbye. A virgin innocence slowly starts to die. With my head in hands I try to cry, realizing I’ve lived your lie. COPYRIGHT: 2004 MATT THOMPSON © 2008 Matt Thompson |
