"...OF ROSES AND THORNS"

"...OF ROSES AND THORNS"

A Poem by Matt Thompson

"...OF ROSES AND THORNS"
Lured by your beauty,
I became entranced in lust.
Blind to your cruelty,
The precious within turned to rust.
Casting all to the swine,
And embracing the anguish.
My eyes fell from the divine
Failing to distinguish.

My eye becomes entranced,
Drawn to your beauty of the rose.
My throat chokes on the vomit of your thorns.

Longing for the lull of a siren,
Your thoughtless words shriek rage.
The thought of man with woman becomes barren.

Scream your wrath at me
While I cry tears of sorrow.
Condemn that which is pure.
Pierce it with the harrow.
The blood that flows
Burns like acid.
