MORTALITY

MORTALITY

A Poem by Matt Thompson
"

This poem is simply one person wrestling with the knowledge that a loved one will soon pass away, but yet through all the sadness, finding a peace within it.

"
A couple of days:
a few years.
Friendships taken for granted
until knowledge of ones days are few.
Will you be leaving today?
Tomorrow maybe?
It hurts you to see the tears in my eyes,
but damn it, it tears me up to know that one
day you won't be with us anymore.
I thought you were strong in immortality.
But now I face the fact that your mortality
is the strength to help us carry on.
