LET ME DIE(LYRICAL VERSION)A Poem by Matt Thompson
“LET ME DIE” lyrics
My heart has grown weak, my spirit becomes meek: The tears etch down my face. And I’ve become a cheap disgrace. Memories of hurt leave dreams banished, and innocence has vanished. Let me go, let me die. All I have is this sorrow. All of my heroes are gone, and I don’t know why. I’ve lost my faith; I’ve lost my way. My heart has become cold and gray. The pain is who I am, and who I was, it doesn’t matter though, and nothing does. Seeds of sorrow have been sown, and the emptiness has grown. Let me go, let me die. All I have is this sorrow. All of my heroes are gone, and I don’t know why. Pulled the curtains from my window and let the sunshine in. Pulled the curtains from my heart and let the Son’s healing begin. Yesterday lies rotting as a corpse in a morbid state of death Today the pain has died, and I take a breath Horrible flesh, let me go, let me die. Holy Lord I thank you for taking the nails in your wrists, So that healing could come to my wrists with slits. Let me die so that in you I live.
