Unable to Fail (revised)A Poem by MourikisNA revised version of my previous work Unable to FailUnable to Fail From the beginning of school I coasted with ease. I was such a fool- I had a gift, I did not seize. This gift I have had forever, I never seemed to understand. This gift that could reveal the answer, And grant me an upper hand. I could not fail, Even when I tried. My gift, to my avail Was my one true guide. I sold myself short, To my excuses and my fabrications. They gave me the reasons to resort, To ultimate laziness and stagnation. I missed my chance To truly prove my self-worth. At second glance, I know I’d had it since birth. But fallen I am not, I will rise to the top. I will not let myself rot On this one little flop. If there is no door open And no windows around back I’m going through the wall No amount of concrete can hold me back. I know my future is mine, For no one else to decide. If the star fail to align, The gods can step aside. Hellbent on my success Hellbent on my name. There is no space for indolence It is time to make my claim. No one will hold me down No one will stand in my way. I am going to crackdown, That “someday” is today. © 2015 MourikisNReviews
