Unable to FailA Poem by MourikisNMistakes I made in high school.Unable to fail. All throughout school, I coasted with ease. I was such a fool It was simply a tease. For I have a gift I chose not to acknowledge This gift that could lift My level of knowledge. I sold myself short On excuses and lies. On reasons to resort To laziness and guise. I couldn’t fail Even if I tried. My gift couldn’t fail And I never realized. I missed my chance To prove my self-worth. At second glance I’ve had it since birth. But fallen I am not I will rise to the top. I will not rot On one little flop. If there is no door open, And no windows around back I’m going through the wall Don’t try to hold me back Hellbent on success Hellbent on my name. There’s no space for laziness It is time to make my claim. No one will hold me down No one will stand in my way. I am going to crackdown, Someday is today. © 2015 MourikisNFeatured Review
