The agony of a true mother

The agony of a true mother

A Poem by Mosunmola Adeniyi

Broken pieces across the stream
Shatters in chase of every dream
Fetters in manifolds with fillers to the brim
Environmental display of loath and scream

Beauty had a face and there she was
Beneath her heavily painted dark lids was strive and pains waxed worse
Infirmity on skin tour as she struggles to battle the force
Hubby over hills mindless of how she manages to salvage and bear the cross

Strong willed and insurmountable even when appears the dark cloud
Success on the part of her broods becomes a journey she must embark on
Coverings on the earth breaking loose as the afflictions abound
Tussles near and far with stripes forgone

Opportunities on a gradual loss as sufferings run amok and crude
Cooked stinking roadside leaves is made the top soup on the local menu of the day
Self starvation becomes her daily call only in a bit to make the food sufficient on lay
And she despite all is a street disciplinarian with strict measures to infuse

Supplications are her very source of solace
Suffering and smiling but crying in the rain
Scuttle on course through cold and hot hours with no sleep becomes a gradual pace
Conspiracy and domestic violence in full capture of the environment as they reinforce
Fortitude takes grip as hardship endures
Alas in the face of struggle and strives eventuality bells the cat as a huge mansion springs up from the once dilapidated house in the village.

Ref: a movie exposing the ills of the marital society (Apaye).
Dedicated to the world's true mothers.
