UntitledA Poem by Diana LynnMy eyes are looking down to the beautiful sight of the asphalt below. I wonder if it’s as soft as it looks - I guess in a minute I’ll know. My mind is racing, filled with many different thoughts. The blood is rushing, now I see only dots. I’m getting dizzy, but I won’t back down. I’m the center of attention, here comes the whole town. I move closer to the edge, ready to fall. I’m so high up, I feel so tall. My family’s shrieks continue to pierce my ear. Messing me up, that’s all I hear. I wait until the police are there. I know that they are trying to prepare. They set up a blanket, so I won’t die. I guess they don’t know, there’s lots of ways to say bye. When they are sure of themselves, I begin to run. I run the other way, leaving them all stunned. While they’re over there, I give a quick smile. I jump off the ledge, and I fall for a while. I have no regrets, and as soon as I get near, I wake up with fright, and a single tear. © 2013 Diana LynnAuthor's Note
