Please Mother

Please Mother

A Poem by Morteica

hurry               Please

I am so hungry

so hungry for the bones      Mother

has been cooking for hours

my nose twitches over them

marinating      in my skull

my bones are soulless

soaking in their own juices

muscles yield      seasoned

with cloves and

smoke        rings slip down

finger bones to catch on knuckles

before you can open my mouth

I am lost

flesh caught on  bone        taut

skin pulled back from teeth

the bones in my knees knock

at the table until I stand

lips locked     and suck my bones

clean

Great descripives and phrasing. I must be a little slow though because I don't think I really understand what this is about. Is it cannibalism or that hunger is self-consuming or that Mother is not attentive enough and thereby you being consumed to the bone with need? Or perhaps something else entirely? Please do let me know, I'd really appreciate it. You have left me wondering and qestioning and rumination, so that is quite an accomplishment in and of itself. You are a great writer and I look forwardto reading more of you works. Thanks for sharing.
