Tidal

Tidal

A Poem by M15ant470p3
"

Wrote this in response to Valentine's day for my wife

"

A galleon

Sea worthy and accustomed to the tumult of the seas

Her crew favor her above others

Thethers their hopes and dreams to her weathered masts

Trusts her hold to keep their treasures safe

An ocean

Covetous and jealous, capsizes and despises ship after ship

He desires her above all others

Trapping her on his jagged reef, ensnared on his lonesome shore

Ceaselessly lashing her with envious waves

Together they’re forever

Her crew long since expired

Her hold still full of their gold

As his waves erode her bow and hull

She hears his whispered apology in every ebb

Sun-bleached bones

litter her once magnificent deck

With every moon and tide rise

The faint whimper of hope

Ripples her tattered sails

Unforgiving and relentless

He continues his aquatic assault

Cyclical and perpetual

He will not let her go

She accepts her fate

When his barrage pauses and calm creeps in

He cradles and caresses

Every slope and plank

She longs for these fleeting pauses

Longs for his warmth and gentle current

She too offers him solace

She keeps a secret stolen deep within her hold

The secret that she knew the dangers of this ocean

And the destruction of his waves

Yet sailed on despite the peril

Sunrise to sunset

Wax to wane

Calm to storm

Even when he mirrors the chaos of the squall

And begins to swell, swirl, and churn again

She remains with him

Marooned on his distant shore

I read these words now and they bring me to anger. I'm happy to have immortalized exactly how she made me feel. Not unlike an assailant, a bully, and an evil doer.

She excelled at making me believe that I'm awful.
Not anymore.
