Types of fears and how to overcome themA Story by ToniFound this article online and wanted to share it with you. It is about fear and overcoming fear.Everyone has fears;
however, the main area to focus on is to first decide which type of fear you
have and then to take unhealthy fears and turn them into healthy fears, fears
we can do something about. Fears we can do something about can be used to
develop a safe place and to eventually overcome what is inevitable such as
sickness and death. There are many
types of fear, death, rejection, being trapped and wanting to be free of fear. One
of the first steps in getting rid of fear is to seek help from a “higher
power.” Praying can be an effective way to seek guidance on how to deal with
fear. Another way is to imagine
the worst-case scenario. In other words, let the worst thing that comes to you
mind about your fear play out. In other words, think about what would be the
worst thing that could happen to you, concerning a specific fear. For example, if you
fear conflict, picture yourself trying very hard to assert your feelings and
then crying. Keep this conflict in your mind’s eye; keep it going until you feel
safe. No matter what you fear, keep going until the worst case scenario comes
to an end and you feel safe. By doing this, you will feel prepared to handle
the worst; however, the worst will probably never happen. Another step is to
find the will to overcome the fear. Sure, you will feel afraid, scared and
frightened but you can go through the motions and still do what you fear. Then,
when you see that you are actually doing it, you may begin to feel that you can
overcome the fear. Most importantly,
be willing to go through the motions. As you confront your fear, you will begin
to see that you can do it. Keeping a journal on how you’re doing is also
an effective way to see how you are progressing with the fear. As the days go
by, go back to your journal to see how you are doing. By writing down your
feelings you will have a better insight on the fear and how it is lessening its
grip on your everyday life. To conclude,
everyone has fears. However, the benefits of getting over your fears are
enjoying a higher sense of self-confidence, possibly inspiring other to
overcome their fears, feeling more excited about life © 2020 ToniAuthor's Note
