The Devils AdvocateA Poem by MoriartyMesa
Judge of public opinion,
jury of peers, my honors, my people, and all in humble respect. My fellow human beings, new soul and old. Let me present the accused. Here is what stands before you, here is a soul that is as human as your own. In the dock stands a man who only wished to express a thought. To share, not on a corner, or a twitter account, or any such social network. He never even wrote into the times or commented online....... So what is his crime, what makes him so guilty for expressing such tremendous rancor that he should sit in judgement of public opinion, out cry and opposition? He said "No" a small word that can cause sparks of revolution, public opinion, and even biblical quotations. Can easily become disagreeable, to a point of anarchy. We may agree with what suits us so far away, and quickly condemn what we disagree with, but can we judge? Convict, sentence? Now my ladies and gentlemen of the jury we must consider our own sins, crimes, lies, masks of false expression. For as every person wears a mask, so every person is a lair, and one thought might have truth, we embrace the lie and renounce the truth. So I ask before you judge and pass sentence, you consider your own truth. © 2015 MoriartyMesaAuthor's NoteReviews
