Rollar Dance

Rollar Dance

A Poem by MoriartyMesa
"

Music is important to this. if you were born before the 80's please feel free to laugh.

"
Clap those hands,

skip those wheels,

kick, jump, groove, move,

roll!

Remember that moment in the 80's,

we didnt have mpegs, sound bites,

we had the roller world,

that first nervous turn, arms flarring,

watching those cool kids that danced and skated,

every nervous move,

she kept skating,

how cool was she?

You were 8,

she was 10,

totally an older woman and you rolled,

little smiles,

smiles that are everything an anything,

this will never end,

time to look good,

time to make your smooth moves,

time to skate like Tony Hawk

On roller Skates!!

To all of us that remember the songs we tried to skate and look cool to,

kids, feel free to laugh.

Nope not laughing, just reminiscing. It's unfortunate this sport is becoming so hard to find. There is still a roller rink about twenty minutes from where I live. A couple times of year I take my kids there...yes I skate too, lol. They play some of the same old songs. THE MONSTER MASH! Limbo? Hell no. I watch on the sidelines, last time I tried that I landed flat on my back, complete wipe out, made a real a*s out of myself, no coolness there...nope none at all. lol

You were 8,
she was 10,
totally an older woman and you rolled,
little smiles,
smiles that are everything an anything. This one stanza's nice and made me chuckle because it's based on modern world too like it was based on 80's for those people who born before 80's and i hope they would've laughed (especially those who born before 80's). It makes a smile on the modern world people's faces too. Beautiful lines.

This brought back some good memories and made me smile. We use to go roller skating all the time when I was younger. They always had people break dancing in the middle of the rink. Ahhh...a simpler time. A fun read.
