Before I Die.

Before I Die.

A Story by MoriartyMesa

At some point in a persons life they have this desire to know what they want before death, not like it is a wish for an end but to see things before that they never imagined to see.

You can call it a 'bucket list', you call it 'wishful thinking', but when you come to the heart of the matter it is more what you Need to See before death comes.

And he comes no matter, age, station, rank, creed or color.

So in the mean time we strive for the unknown, the unseen, scenes that will blow the mind to the next level, the heart to three skips of a beat, and the prayer that comes from the optimists.

So before I leave this blue spinning rock, I hope to see one or nine things.

Some of them are in Jhansi, another on a place Grampa Joe called 'Omaha Beach', a place that he always shook when someone said the name.

Another is a small stream in the Yellow Stone I went once, when I was six and a girl kissed me.

To scale the Acropolis, feeling the sweat and sun of the sky over Greece.

Walk by the coast line of County Kerry, where my great, grandfather's sweet mother was born and a spirit flask of real Irish Whiskey.

As someone who danced at the stroke of 1999-2000, A rave... I don't care how old I am, or what I may look like.

Just to dance, one or three more times.

Maybe lean on a fence post on the road to Gettysburg,  than light a smoke and have a slight tear and Greasy Grass.

A cup of Coffee on the Khyber Pass, and a restful nap on near a Roman aqueduct.

Than again there would be a bit of fun in making that last ride on a buttercup, hear and shed a tear to the last Sun Dance of my grand mother's people.

But before I have my last sleep, I want a huge plate of sausages, pulled pork, mash garlic potatoes, gravy, steamed veg, and a tall endless glass of milk.

Than I will rest, unless things aren't right, cause if ain't right in the end, than its not the end is it?

Great Bucketlist. :)

I especially enjoyed the tidbits leading to why you chose those places.
My fave is something I would put on my bucketlist.."A cup of Coffee on the Khyber Pass, and a restful nap on near a Roman aqueduct." :)

Love it.
In my head, this played out like a scene in a movie. Somebody knew their time was almost up, so they're sitting with a friend, enjoying thoughts of things he'd like to see and do before he goes.
Somewhat sad, but a really nice read!
