A Poem by MoriartyMesa
"

Prohibition 1923 Land of the Free.

"
Yes dear readers,

It's your ace, number 1, reporter on the scene,

girl with the hot tip..................that landed herself in one heck of a place to spend one heck of an evening,

Just to land herself in a low lite police station with absolutely no sense of taste.

Now as some of you know (and you know who you are you naughty wives and girls),

You know that your girl was getting herself for the event of the season,

my escorts:

Lord Bertie (and his ever so clever 'gentleman's gentleman' if you please)

along with my HollyWood 'Cowboy' & 'Tramp',

and some loud mouth 'Georgia Peach', whom insisted yours truly,

was named after a Goddess.....What a ham.

Our evening started with a late supper at Madam Paradise,

which is a lot less paradise and a lot more Madam,

no wonder the 'Georgia Peach' pointed this dismal place in our direction.

But with a slide of hand and swift kick to the 'grapes' of the 'Peach',

the 'Tramp' kick the sour fruit to the side of the road and we three headed to the one place on Earth of true civility.

Yes dear readers;

'Romantic Blues', the last and only place a girl can find a smooth vodka martini,

and not the hands of a baseball player hoping for a home run.

A single singer,

a band that must have been on loan from heaven,

if it was not the martini it must have been the music my beautiful readers.

And it would have been another night of Gin,Jazz, and naughty gossip,

until our local flat foots decided to make a raid of the place.

I swear they drank more than they took and some of our boys in blue our handsome.

To bad this was not the sort of place a daughter in law would be found in.

Trooped into the paddy wagons one after the other, we did have a nice ball of the event.

You can say a lot of things about your local cops,

but those boy's let the band play a nice diddy all the way to the station.

Now my dear readers,

if you should read the notice of my booking,

winking is a completely natural function.

After all if a girl is gonna get her picture taken,

why not make it worth it?

They also weigh you for some reason, And I will appeal to the highest court,

that scale was wrong?

Along with bad lighting,

they insist on wrapping my hand's in ink,

than expecting me to finger paint!?

Some of you may be shaking your heads in worry,

yes, the cells are dreadful, no sense of style,

chip, paint, no decor to speak of,

what are our tax dollars paying for if a girl can't even have a nice cell?

Thankfully, one of the ladies managed to bring a bottle of bubbly,

and the band kept playing,

that is what I call a lively night in the Hoosegow.

Now by morning the flat foots took us all over to the court house,

let me just say the breakfast chef of the police station shut be shot.

Thankfully our Judge remember yours truly,

charges dismissed.

And the band played our way out of court and someone got herself,

a very,

respectable date.................

Going to brunch with a fella in a black silk gown.

Don't wait up you delicious readers.

Sincerely,

Miss. Adela N'evertil

This IS the piece I read of yours earlier. REALLY enjoyed it and I cannot recall why I didn't come back. Oh well... back for a re-read and enjoyed it once more. My review is most likely down there somewhere, though probably not required. I'm certain you know what all is contained in the talent of this. REMEMBER - my page does not host vid. thanks. :p

So lively! I really enjoyed this. Very unique and I love the ending. Great work! I do enjoy your style, so provocative, alluring, yet down to earth. Thanks for sharing!

I'm not quite sure if you meant for this to be humorous, nonetheless, I did find it funny in a way. Well done.

Yeah Gods... Jeeves and Wooster, Chaplin and such wonderful sour joy it just makes me glow all over. Wonderful work my friend. Nothing else on here to compare it to. Nothing anywhere to compare it to. A true individual, carving out a role as wide as a canyon. Great job

And the decor must have been the biggest head ache of the night.
LOL. This tickled me to the bone. Great, great, awesome job (take another look for typos though, unless they were intentional). I loved the voice of this narrator. It wasn't difficult for me at all to hear and see her. Kudos. The story was funny and well done.
