Her Only Escape

Her Only Escape

A Poem by Morgan Young

She use to love him long ago
Back when he still loved her
But then he discovered his love for alcohol
And she was quickly replaced, as was his happiness
Hate and Anger in it's place
Now when he and his love get carried away,
She is the one who pays the price.
So, there she lies on the floor
Crumpled up and barely breathing,
She can hear him, down he hall
And through the bedroom door
Snoring so loudly She can't disregard.
She wants to leave him, she wants to run
But she can't, she won't, because he will find her
And then she will truly be finished.

Fear is hard to overcome. People who need drugs and alcohol have only one desire. Anyone who tries to love them. Will learn pain and suffering only. You wrote a powerful and sad poem. I believe we need more safe houses for woman. A excellent poem. Thank you.
