The Law Man's Noose

The Law Man's Noose

A Poem by Morag

Oh the law man's noose has come down low,

It wrapped 'round my neck with a fateful blow.

The cold black water ran over me cold,

The cold black water that chilled my bones.

Death himself comes down with the noose in his hand,

Stealing away my troubled soul from this land.

I feel the urge to run but he compels me to stay,

To accept my fate and finally be slain.

The bright lights flash before my eyes as the rope chokes my breath,

I try to cling to the good things in life, the last things I have left.

But I can't hold on so I just close my eyes and let go,

As the law man steals away my soul.

I like the old west touch to this. there's a haunting feel to the last lines in each stanza. The first lines of the second and third stanzas could be shortened to make it smoother. You really did this well.
