I find the line, "all consuming obscurity" interesting. Besides death, I have come to believe that the greatest fear in modern societies is obscurity, not the fear of the unknown, but the dread of never being known

I feel like you shouldn't stop so short. The line "all consuming obscurity" is great and I feel if you expand a little with the other lines, that you would be/are capable of some pretty intense imagery. However, it is still pretty good.
