MirrorA Poem by Natalie BeckWhen you are your own worst enemy.Dear
mirror on my wall Please
show me my gravest flaw Is it the
echo that stares off your shine? Is it the
motionless fixated straight line? Or does it
run deeper, beyond your plane To the
darkness that nestles inside my vein Or doubt
that is buried within my brain Which no
amount of talking releases the chain? Your
surface beholds my first impression Each
morning you are my obscured obsession No
surprise at what I see, a clear mystery. That
cannot be solved from the likes of me! There must
be others, who sit and gape And pray
to be greeted by a different shape Instead of
menacing eyes, and hopes of escape Clawing
nails down your length I scrape. So what is
my main fault, answer me this! And send
me into the inviting abyss Send me
with the knowledge of my mistake Remember seven
doesn’t affect me if you should break. © 2013 Natalie Beck |
