Lunch with(out) Dad

Lunch with(out) Dad

A Poem by Jessie

We had plans.

We made them this morning.

You should have told me
That you were changing the plans
Before I look for you and find
You're already gone.

I think you might be the reason
Why there are so many
Disappointing men
In my life.

Or maybe it's my fault
For not knowing the difference between
Security and
Happiness.

Or not finally learning how to
Not ever rely on anyone.

At least I still have my
Peanut-butter and jelly sandwich.
It can't disappoint me.

. moving and poignant poetry ... yet spirited ... there's an unmistakable resilience here ... personally, it's taken me a long time to own my life ... and only recently i think i've begun to take my own decisions ... but it wasn't easy to get to this place ... it takes a lot ...
