My Iron Maiden

My Iron Maiden

A Poem by Jessie

I live my life in an iron maiden
That (I suppose) I'm lucky is too
Tall and wide to kill me.

I stand here inside my deadly cage,
Listening to the world outside,
And looking through the eye slot,
While others stare at me,
Simply watching and waiting.

If I wanted to,
I could cuddle up to these spikes,
And let them pierce my skin
Kissing me with a slow,
Painful
Death.

But I'd rather stand here,
Uncomfortably still,
Starving for freedom,
Watching them watch me
Until my body wastes away.

That way,
I can leave as little mess
As possible
After my death.
