Fire and Water

Fire and Water

A Poem by Jessie

My soul is composed of water and fire.
The doctor calls it "manic depression."
I found this out when I had the desire
To spill my guts out at my first session.

The fire in me will spark my madness,
Ignites an energy that can amaze,
But when water flows I feel deep sadness,
For it can leave me in the rain for days.

There are sometimes ways to tame the burning,
And to hold back the waters in the flood,
But everyday I find that I'm learning,
There is no true escape; it's in my blood.

This is what I've learned of Heaven and Hell:
Both are a place where my spirit will dwell.
