A Poem by Jessie

I was driving down a hill one day,

When something white caught my eye
It was unfortunate that I could not stay,
To get a good look where a flattened bird lie.

Its beak was shattered, legs were mangled,
Its wings were broken and spread wide,
The poor beast's bloody feathers were entangled,
Yes, I was sure the creature had died.

And now that I am finished with the task
Of writing this poor bird's terrible ode,
I have only one thing left to ask:
Why did the chicken cross the road?
