Underneath

Underneath

A Poem by Emma Norcross

I live in a very small box,
With very big and gray walls.
I sit there and I scream and I cry,
But you never hear any of my calls.

I say that I'm not ok,
And you all turn your heads.
You say that I'm a fake,
Who needs to take some meds.

You can't see my box and
You can't hear my cries
I give you all the signs
But you never see through my lies.

I say that I am happy,
And I say that I am cool.
But I have come to realize,
That you are all just cruel.

You don't see the  signs,
And you don't see the pain
But, somehow you seem to see,
That I am not entirely sain.

I just want you to know,
I just want you to see
All the pain and suffering
That you bring down on me.
