201. Icarus: 2nd Tale of Experience

201. Icarus: 2nd Tale of Experience

A Poem by Alex Moondragon

I hung onto your every word,
I idolized your poetic form,
I dreamed your dreams of love,
I reveled in your hope and joy
And sympathised with your pain;
But we, now both deceived,
and yet me more so than you,
together must fall; but I
Much further and much harder than you;
For I dared to dream
and dared even more to believe
in those dreams.
Now with wax drenched wings,
scorched by suffering, which
No amount of tears shall purge
Nor sooth the painful disillusionment
but to accentuate my foolishness
And deepen my despair,
I cry out to the scales of justice:
If balance be a just repair,
What then can balance my despair?
