63. Utopian Dust

63. Utopian Dust

A Poem by Alex Moondragon

‘You know,’ she said, ‘it doesn’t matter

How hard you try to please someone,

They are never satisfied.’

And the crystalline pillars of Utopia

Cracked and rumbled.

Then I realized that I too

Was partly to blame,

Because we all are, in a way.

And the perfect lattice shattered and tore.

Do we aim too high or do we

Simply not know

Exactly what it is that we want?

Now the dust of Utopia lies on the floor

While we beat it in vain to shine as before.
