75. The Calm Before The StormA Poem by Alex MoondragonThe wind breathed a breathless sigh And Silence shattered all the noise. So vehement was that contingency That I heard the sunlight Play upon the green, green grass, The flowers and my heart; They melted into muted forms And there they lay apart. No marriage did between them lie Not words of vague poetic form, And thus it was that I then heard The calm before the storm. 8 January 1993 © 2013 Alex Moondragon |
