75. The Calm Before The Storm

75. The Calm Before The Storm

A Poem by Alex Moondragon

The wind breathed a breathless sigh

And Silence shattered all the noise.

So vehement was that contingency

That I heard the sunlight

Play upon the green, green grass,

The flowers and my heart;

They melted into muted forms

And there they lay apart.

No marriage did between them lie

Not words of vague poetic form,

And thus it was that I then heard

The calm before the storm.
