Sweat

Sweat

A Story by Montipy

The smell of sweat wakes me up in the morning. Her sweat, not mine. She left me, or I left her… I do not remember. All I have left from her is the smell of her sweat. And now it is forever mine!

A poignant smell of filth and guilt than goes through my mind and all my senses. A stench that never lets go of me. This is the smell of a story I do not want anyone to know. I take a shower to keep it secret. I know everyone will feel the smell and learn the shameful story, because her sweat cannot be washed away. Neither my shame. Perfumes only make it worse.

The smell of sweat is all she’s left me. Now I can either hold my nose or take the smell in with a full-lung breath, and lick the last drops. It makes me feel like puking. I puke feelings. Then I flush. Sometimes more than once.

And take another shower…

Wow, this is very good. Can't we all relate to this at some point in our life, where the guilt and disgust is overwhelming to the point where you become paranoid that others will know, just by the smell on you, in this case. In particular, the last paragraph speaks to me; saying, indulge once again and enjoy the lick of the last drop but morally and physically you cannot.

Greatly enjoyed! Keep it up. I look forward to more of your work.

Wow. what a powerful story. A powerful image.

The guilt runs so deep....and particularly, I love the part where you say "the smell of a story I do not want anyone to know."

The guilt that never lets you go....that you're never free from....

Wonderful, powerful words, Montipy. This will stay with me all day today!
