What Happened to My CountryA Poem by MontagWhat
Happened to My Country Life was more old-fashioned, then we clapped our hands and danced to fiddles there was flapjack batter on the griddle thanks to offer, praise to render everyone was slender and nodded at their neighbor’s face in greeting confident they knew who they were meeting. Now, in all this overflow there are no places left to know outside our own desire with which the deities conspire to administer the ills that come to us as poison pills imprinted with our name. O to sweep the lies away for truth to finalize itself, at last to say what happened to my country. © 2024 Montag |
