That This World Would Change

and you not be in it

what spark

but cold, whispering ash

set before me to mimic my name

If I came to know this true

I'd keep my hand sure

hang my head, or count to four

using artificial intelligence

But your eyes are where my life belongs

without you only droning songs

for me to sing, on cue.

superb M. the linkage from title to opening line is so stark, makes one think O here we go, another dark hearted screed to love gone to seed. but then you so deftly rein the poem in and leave us smiling with the poem's uplifting imagery of a heart completely given over to another.
very much enjoyed my visit friend, hope all is well along the bay
