When the World was One

When the World was One

A Poem by Montag

When the World was One

thoughtful waterways murmured

ceaseless, searching, ever-matriculating

down the fields of understanding

to unite within the sea

as

busying bees descended

fanning wings 'top stamens in the bloom, hesitant

to then and there be nectar thieves

and

the allusive wind appended sighs

along the dotted lines of eucalyptus limbs

upward wavering as if to cry huzza

for

the ardent declaration of those active, musical birds

whose naive song declares no thing at all.

Save itself.
