Conquistadores

Conquistadores

Always there was sky

above the wide blue waters

our eyes see only sky

Once a rising sun

towers of wood

great with white wings

silent resting

on the wide blue waters

What world has come

what sign is this

Humanity waiting

what sign

shadows vision haunting

fleeing

power of death

spirits cannot say

what sign is this

Tree of Life

Tree of Life

do not let apparitions destroy us

Tree of Life

Tree of Life

we are not seeds of stone.

They come at last, come marching

iron gods come marching

gather up our enemies marching

tongues of fire speak against us

against our courage (despair)

against our life (retribution).

Tell us, Tree of Life

the war we carry inside us (always)

is this what caused your anger?

Tell us, Tree of Life

why broken spears lie scattered on the road

and where now we can hide.
